Neck pain at the desk: what actually helps

Published: · Konstantinos Varvagiannis, Physiotherapist

“Correct posture” helps less than we think. How often you change position helps far more.

There is no single ideal posture that survives eight hours. The neck responds to how long the static load lasts, not to the exact angle of your screen.

A small change of position every 30–40 minutes, combined with mobility work and strengthening of the neck extensors, reduces symptoms considerably.

If the pain comes with arm numbness, headache or dizziness, it needs assessment before starting exercises.
